Thank you all. My name is Jesse. Reporter: Did he not give his last name on purpose? Sunday he's hobnobbing with the rich and famous on Miley's arm at the VMAs. Now the cops are knocking on mom's door in Salem, Oregon, because Jesse Helt is a wanted man. Miley Cyrus isn't happy tweeting, the media never fails to disappoint. You've chosen to go after Jesse instead of covering the issue of youth homelessness. ? Reporter: Up there with Nicki's booty and beyonce's kiss, Helt stole the show Sunday night but back in 2010 he tried to break into an alleged pot dealer's apartment with a friend. According to the police report, Jesse said they were going to break the window, enter the apartment and then steal any marijuana he had to sell. Helt said the ten apartment had been selling bad marijuana to them lately. Helt pled guilty but then allegedly violated his probation an arrest warrant was issued and he's been on the lam ever since in L.A. Trying to kick-start a modeling career but ending up on the street. Miley met Helt at a homeless charity and invited him to the VMAs to draw attention to the problem of homeless youth. I'm proud of him for that that he stood up and made a difference. Reporter: Helt's mother spoke with us late last night. He wanted to make it on his own, number one. He wanted to be responsible for his actions. I think he needed to grow up. Reporter: Miley bought him that suit. Took him for a burger afterwards and reportedly bought him a ticket home to see mum in Salem and that's where cops tell us they're now waiting to handcuff him. For "Good morning America," nick watt, ABC news, Los Angeles.
