We get started with the town council meeting in pennsylvania. Three people dead after a man opened fire. And the heroes who prevented it from being even worse. Abc's aditi roy is there for us this morning. Good morning, aditi. Reporter: Good morning, robin. That shooting happened at the township building right behind me. Investigators have been here for the better part of the night, gathering evidence. In addition to the three people that you killed, there were people that were injured, including the alleged gunman. That shooter is now in police custody. Witnesses say it was a horrifying and chaotic scene. Bullets began exploding through the ross township municipal building. It is disturbing for us. You see it all over. And here it is in your hometown. Reporter: More than a dozen of people inside for a meeting ran for cover, police say this man, rockne newell, was firing through the windows. He continued to fuhr the long gun, as he made his way through the building. Reporter: Chris reber was there, reporting for "the pocono record." I dropped to the floor. It stopped and I crawled out the side door. He retrieved a handgun from his vehicle. He reapproached the vehicle and entered the building firing the weapon. Reporter: The terrifying ordeal, reportedly coming to an end, when a local official grabbed newell in a bear hug and helped wrestle his gun away before using it to shoot newell in the leg. Police believe newell wanted revenge after the property where he lived was con demented thursday. He reportedly had a long-standing feud with the township, with neighbors complaining his land had become a junk yard. And he was living there without a septic system. Police are reportedly sending search dogs to the alleged gunman's property, in fear he may have set booby-traps. All while the grief is displayed on the local paper.
