What Are The Benefits Of Genetic Testing In Children With Autism?

Question: What are the benefits of genetic testing in children with autism?

Answer: Well there are several known genetic disorders that are associated with autism or an autism spectrum disorder. So it is important to get testing so you can identify the exact cause in some cases. Also genetic testing can give you information about other medical problems that may be present. For example, in children with 22Q11 deletion syndrome, they may have autism but they may have some other medical illnesses such as heart difficulties or kidney defects or immunological problems.
