July 1, 2009— -- Question: What are some typical injuries that result from golfing, and what can I do to prevent them?

Answer: Common golfing injuries include strains of the rotator cuff, medial elbow pain or low-back strains. We found that a lot of these golfing injuries are related to overuse or alterations in your mechanics. Poor swing mechanics can be fixed by seeing a golf coach.

We also found that when you change clubs or get new clubs, your swing mechanics can change dramatically. It's important to practice with those clubs before you go out and play a full 18 holes. And it's also important to pay attention to your golf swing if you begin to notice that you're developing some of these pains in your shoulder or elbow.
