July 1, 2009— -- Question: What are some typical injuries that result from skiing, and what can I do to prevent them?

Answer: When you're skiing, most injuries come about because you fall. When you fall, you can injure your thumb or your knee, oftentimes with a fracture or ligament injury. Ways of preventing those types of injuries, especially when you're an amateur skier, are ski poles that will fall away from you easily, not using wrist straps when you ski, and also having bindings that will release easily, if you're an amateur skier.
