July 1, 2009— -- Question: I want to switch my workouts from evenings to mornings so I have more time with my family, but I'm not a morning person. Do you have any suggestions to ease the transition?

Answer: Well, there are a couple great ways to help you avoid that temptation to hit the snooze button a couple more times early in the morning. One of the best ways is to work out with a partner. You are going to be much more likely to get up out of bed if you know that your buddy is waiting for you down at the park to go for that morning run.

Another great suggestion is to go ahead and sign up for a race -- you know, that commitment, paying that entry fee is a great way to motivate you to get up and stick to your goals. Not to mention that, just get up and do it once or twice, and that great feeling you'll have the rest of the day, is going to be a terrific incentive to keep doing it.
