— -- Question: Will hypnosis help me manage symptoms such as nausea, pain, fatigue, and insomnia caused by my breast cancer or its treatment?

Answer: The use of hypnosis for symptom management, including fatigue, insomnia, pain, nausea, needs to be appropriate. Then, to help you manage the symptoms, hypnosis can be very helpful. Hypnosis we know has helped people lower blood pressure, stop smoking, sleep better. So, to use it for your symptom management will require accurate diagnosis, discussing it with your health care professional, and then finding an appropriately trained hypnotherapist, someone who understands hypnotherapy but also understands you as a person and knows your diagnosis and stays in contact, if needed, with your oncologist so that the care can be coordinated.
