March 16, 2009 -- Question: When is seed implant therapy not a treatment option for prostate cancer?

Answer: A seed implant is not an option for all men with prostate cancer. There's several factors that prevent a man from having a prostate implant. These include a large prostate, a person who's had the surgical procedure known as a TURP or transurethral resection of the prostate in the past and medical reasons to prevent a patient from having anesthesia. Also, for some men with large cancers, a seed implant is not an appropriate option.
