— -- These whimsical Disney-inspired couture dresses will start brides on their happily ever after on their big day, or make women in general feel like Cinderella at the ball.
Australian designer Paul Vasileff created the Once Upon a Dream collection for his couture label, Paolo Sebastian, which he said is inspired by the essence of Disney.
“Disney has always been a source of inspiration for me,” Vasileff said in a press release about the collection for Spring/Summer 2018. “Growing up I was always enthralled by the magic of transformation that the stories offered.”
The enchanting gowns are made of French tulle and silk chiffon in tones of petal pink, rose and iridescent starlight, according to the designer. The raw umber and ebony tones are adorned with intricate handsewn embroideries of woodland scenes, sweet nightingales and floral motifs, evoking a sense of enchantment synonymous with Disney storytelling, the press release explained.
“It’s been a lot of fun translating the iconic songs into beautiful embroideries,” said Vasileff.
The 27-year-old designer said his Once Upon a Dream collection is an homage to the stories and characters that have captured the heart and spirit of generations.
