— -- When Andrew and Laura Last found out that their sixth child would be a girl, making her their fifth daughter, the parents decided to get their only son in on the joke for a funny gender announcement for family and friends.

The Lasts, of Orange County, Calif., dressed their four daughters in princess costumes with tiaras and crowns and staged the photo in one of the girls’ bedrooms, complete with a dollhouse, pink balloons and pink flowers.

Their only son, 6-year-old Matthew, sat in the middle of his sisters and their pinkness, with his hands to his head in mock horror. On the bed next to him is a fifth princess dress while one of his sisters holds the sonogram picture.

“Everyone was kind of expecting or hoping for Matthew’s sake that it would be a boy so I just thought we’d do something funny to announce that, of course, it’s another girl,” Laura Last told ABC News.

Last, 31, and Andrew, 36, are the parents of 2-year-old triplet daughters and a 4-year-old daughter, in addition to Matthew.

Last says that while the funny photo got laughs from family and friends and is going viral after it was posted on Life of Dad’s Facebook page, Matthew is, in reality, excited to have another sister.

“We gave them all pink doughnuts to surprise them and he was very excited about it,” Last said. “The picture was all for fun, just playing off the expectation.”

"They adore him," she said of Matthew's younger sisters. "I think he’s in a good spot being the oldest and the only boy."

Last is due next May.
