Rescue goes swimmingly well after ducklings plucked from a Florida drain
A local police officer climbed down and pulled them to safety.
— -- A group of ducklings in distress have an eagle-eyed Florida flight attendant to thank for their rescue.
Susan Carnes, a Delta Airline flight attendant, was heading home Tuesday in South Tampa when a distress call of sorts grabbed her attention while she was driving through a Publix supermarket parking lot.
"I rolled down my window and I heard peep-peeping and saw nine baby ducks who had dropped into the storm drain," Carnes told The Tampa Bay Times.
Carnes contacted the Florida Parrot Rescue, which suggested she call the police.
Within minutes, Officer Cameron Greene arrived and the rescue was underway.
As seen in the video, Greene uses a crowbar to lift the storm drain's grate and lowers himself down.
He picked up the ducklings, and they were released into a nearby pond.
All in all, the rescue went swimmingly well, and Carnes now has quite the "tail" to tell.
