Oct. 28, 2007 — -- Molly Bingham, a war photographer once held hostage in Iraq, returned to find out what was driving the fighting there. Her interviews with insurgents are now being used to train American soldiers.

Molly Bingham: This is not an easy film for people who are engaged in this fight -- to watch the other side, people who have probably killed buddies of theirs or been involved in killing people in their units.

That's something that I admire in them, that they are able to sit down and watch that and recognize the value of understanding the perspective.

Sgt. Mike Kelley, 3rd Infantry Division (at screening): When you try to be compassionate and see things from their point of view ... they're normal people who are pissed off because we're here and we're not welcome.

Bingham: Understanding who's on the other side and what their motivation is, I think, is the only way you're going to have a remote chance of resolving or minimizing or diminishing the conflict at all.

The film, "Meeting Resistance," is now showing in select theaters nationwide. To find out more about where you can see it visit http://meetingresistance.com/.
