John Kasich Celebrates in Ohio: 'We're Gonna Go All the Way to Cleveland'
Kasich said he will secure the GOP nomination after a projected victory in Ohio.
— -- A very grateful Ohio Gov. John Kasich thanked his supporters for helping him nab a big win in his home state of Ohio.
ABC News projected Kasich will win the primary in the Buckeye State earlier in the evening.
“To have people believe in you and to believe that you can bring people together and strengthen our country, I have to thank the people of the great state of Ohio,” Kasich said, beaming. “I love you is all I can tell you. I love you.”
Kasich also acknowledged former presidential candidate and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for his "great effort."
“I want this crowd here tonight to give a great, a great response to a very, very great, talented and fine United States senator, Marco Rubio, for the effort that he has done.”
Rubio suspended his campaign Tuesday night, following his projected loss in Florida.
As he wrapped up his victory speech after his first state win, Kasich assured his supporters he’s going "all the way" to Cleveland to "secure" the Republican nomination.
“Tomorrow, I’m going to Philadelphia,” Kasich said, looking to the primaries ahead. “And then I’m going, I don’t know, all over the country.”
