W A S H I N G T O N, May 18 -- Former Attorney General Janet Reno may be getting back into politics.

Contacted at her home in Miami today by WPLG TV, Reno confirmed reports that she is considering a run for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in her home state of Florida. President Bush's brother Jeb serves as the current governor.

Reno, a veteran prosecutor in Dade County, Fla., before she was tapped by former President Clinton in 1993 to become the first female attorney general, suffers from Parkinson's disease.

At the Justice Department, Reno racked up a record of highs and lows. Her tenure began with the disastrous Branch Davidian raid in Waco, Texas, but later included such triumphs as dramatic declines in the U.S. crime and murder rates, reflected on her time in office.
