Sept. 22, 2013— -- quicklist: 1title: Jack Klugman's Son Calls Out Emmys for Cory Monteith Tributetext: While actor Jack Klugman will be included in the Emmys' "In Memoriam" reel, his son Adam is criticizing the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for giving a more recent actor the honor of a special tribute -- Cory Monteith from the show "Glee."

Monteith died in July of a heroin overdose and alcohol poisoning. Klugman died on Dec. 24, 2012.

In reference to Monteith's overdose, Adam Klugman told the Los Angeles Times: "They're celebrating this self-inflicted tragedy instead of celebrating the life of my father, who won three Emmys. ... Cory Monteith never won an Emmy."

Adam Klugman told the Times that he is a "Glee" fan but "to compare the contribution he made to the contribution my father made -- it doesn't compare."

In response to Klugman's remarks, Emmys executive producer Ken Ehrlich said the controversy may be another example of the generation gap.

"Every generation of television viewers has its favorites, and when we decided to expand the 'In Memoriam' segment to remember certain individuals, we wanted these pieces to be representative as well," Ehrlich told the Times in a statement. "To a younger generation, Cory Monteith's portrayal of Finn Hudson was highly admired, and the producers felt that he should be included along with the four other individuals we have singled out."
