text: As election results settle, we now know that the Republicans have taken control of the Senate. The GOP secured victory in seven states where Democrats currently hold seats -- Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia.

Republicans also boosted their advantage in the House of Representatives, meaning the GOP has control of all of Congress.

Other hot search topics related to the election include Wendy Davis (D), who lost the race for governor in Texas; Scott Walker (R), who was reelected governor in Wisconsin; and Florida election results -- Republican Gov. Rick Scott beat Democrat Charlie Crist in a tight race.

Oregon approved a ballot measure and became the third state to fully legalize marijuana, behind Colorado and Washington. Voters in Washington, D.C. also passed an initiative to allow people to possess two ounces of marijuana for recreational use.

Alaska also has marijuana on its ballot, but the votes aren't in yet.

In Florida, voters weren't so quick to okay the drug. Amendment 2, which would have legalized marijuana for medical purposes in the state, failed.
