— -- In the spirit of giving, Washington Nationals pitcher Doug Fister told his over 24,000 Twitter followers to have a drink on him.

At a little after noon on Wednesday, Fister tweeted out a scanable barcode good at any Starbucks for a free beverage, but asked that folks limit themselves to just one purchase.

The right-hander's offer wasn't unlimited, however; at 3p.m. ET he tweeted out that the offer was first come, first serve until the undisclosed amount of money ran out.

When not bankrolling gingerbread latte purchases, Fister is preparing for his second season with the NL East champion Nats following a 16-6 campaign. Before joining the Nats, Fister pitched in Detroit and broke into the majors with Seattle -- the home of Starbucks.
