Miesha Tate: what's in my bag?
— -- The MMA bantamweight champ is fierce in the ring, but outside of it, she trends toward the girly side -- her nickname, appropriately, is Cupcake. She let espnW peek inside her bag, and she showed us the items she doesn't leave home without -- from pink lip gloss to a killer pair of heels.
1. Per diem
This envelope holds my per diem money from UFC. When I travel, I usually like to try local bakeries. If I get a chance, I'll try a cupcake. And I like to get my nails done, too, if I'm going on a press tour.
2. Seattle Seahawks "Cupcake" jersey
I love the Seahawks. I grew up in Washington and love supporting them, fellow athlete to athlete. It's really cool to see them reciprocating and supporting me now. I should send them some pink Miesha Tate cupcake shirts back.
3. Australian currency
I just came back from Australia last Saturday, so I still have some Australian money in my bag. I haven't exchanged it yet.
4. Bath & Body Works Forever Red luxury body cream
I absolutely love the way it smells; it smells so good. It reminds me of cherry blossoms.
5. Outback gift card
That was a Christmas gift from my manager and a gift from Outback.
6. Makeup
I've always liked L'Oreal. I've used that coverup for years and years now. It covers well but wears light on the face. Sometimes when I don't feel like wearing any makeup, I'll just throw on mascara. It's a quick pick-me-up. It looks like maybe you cared just a little. The lip gloss is a bubble gum pink. I like anything girly. A little pop of color is very feminine.
7. Phone charger
The wall charger is to my Samsung Galaxy S5. I've got to keep a charger on me at all times. I have like 12 different chargers.
8. Eye mask
I sleep very well on planes now. If I'm tired, I don't care.
9. Jimmy Choo heels
I throw them on when I'm getting ready to do an interview, and the rest of the time I'm wearing my Reeboks. I move a lot faster in sneakers. Those are more for looks.
10. Halls honey & lemon cough drops
I find them refreshing. I get congested easily, so sometimes I'll just pop one of those and it opens my sinuses and coats my throat. And when you're traveling a lot, there's dry air and these help. Some people like mints, I like cough drops.
11. Hand sanitizer
It's a 24-hour, anti-microbial hand sanitizer. I'm not a germophobe, but I shake hands with people all day long, and I don't want to get sick. As an athlete, that kind of sucks, to be congested.
12. Energy bar
When I get hungry, I quickly get hangry, so I try to keep something snack-worthy with me.
13. Cell phone power bank
The power bank is for my phone when I can't use the wall charger, like when I'm flying or in a car. My phone is always going off. Sometimes I want to chuck it out the window (laughs). I talk to my manager Josh a lot.
14. Forever 21 hairbrush
For a quick pick-me-up when I'm on the go.
