— -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder and did not return to Sunday's victory over the Houston Texans.

Foles was taken to the locker room at the end of the first quarter for X-rays on his left shoulder. The Eagles announced at the start of the second half that Foles was out for the rest of the game.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said after the game that Foles was wearing a sling but did not disclose any further details.

Mark Sanchez entered the game at quarterback for the Eagles, who were tied with Houston, 7-7, at the time of Foles' injury.

Sanchez completed 15 of 22 passes for 202 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, leading the first-place Eagles (6-2) to a 31-21 victory. It marked the first time that Sanchez appeared in a regular-season game since the 2012 season, when he was with the New York Jets.

Foles' left shoulder was sore earlier this season, but he said it did not affect his performance.

On the last play of the first quarter, Foles was sacked by Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus. Foles was slow to get up after the play and walked off the field along with a member of the training staff before returning to the locker room.

The Eagles also lost their defensive quarterback, inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who was carted to the locker room in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.

Ryans, playing his first game in Houston since being traded from the Texans to the Eagles, had intercepted a pass by Ryan Fitzpatrick. As he landed, Ryans fell down and fumbled the ball. Houston recovered and, two plays after Ryans rode off on a cart, scored a touchdown.

Kelly did not know any details regarding Ryan's injury but was not optimistic, saying it "didn't look good."

Sanchez completed a 60-yard pass to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and later threw a touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews during his first drive in the game.

He threw an interception on his second drive of the game, however.
