— -- PITTSBURGH -- Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. suffered a lower back contusion late in the third quarter against the Steelers.

After taking a hit, Smith walked a few steps back to the huddle and dropped to the ground. He walked gingerly to the sideline after being looked at by trainers and did not return to the game.

Smith, who announced during training camp that he was retiring at the end of the season, is the Ravens' leading receiver. He had four catches for 24 yards before getting injured.

Despite losing Smith, the Ravens pulled out a 23-20 overtime win over Pittsburgh for the team's first victory of the season.
