— -- The Tennessee Titans on Friday reached agreement on a contract with former Washington Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Orakpo will make $8 million annually, the source said. The length of the deal is not known.

The Redskins had used their franchise tag on Orakpo this past season.

Orakpo is coming out of Washington's 3-4. defense. The 28-year-old pass-rusher had torn pectoral muscles for two of the past three seasons, but when healthy he averaged almost 10 sacks a season, including 10 in 2013.

He played in only seven games in 2014 before suffering a torn pectoral for the third time since the end of the 2011 season. Before getting hurt, Orakpo had recorded half a sack.

Orakpo spent his first six seasons with Washington, reaching the Pro Bowl three times. He missed one game in his first three seasons but a combined 24 in his next three thanks to the pectoral tears.

The former first-round pick in 2009 has recorded 40 sacks, although 28.5 of them were in his first three seasons. He has posted double-digit totals twice: as a rookie in 2009 (11) and in 2013 (10).

One knock on him has been the lack of game-changing plays: Orakpo has forced just six fumbles and intercepted one pass in his career.
