CES 2016: The Zaniest Thing We've Seen So Far

— -- There's the part of the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that focuses on technology that will make lives easier in the future -- and then there's the other stuff that makes you go "Huh?"

In-Tail may be the most zany and impractical thing at CES this year -- but the one I had a ridiculous amount of fun checking out.

The "world's first intelligent animatronic tail" is the brainchild of Bryan Kaufman. While it's designed for costumes -- or even taking it to a dance party and rocking out to the bear of the music, Kaufman said he also sees it as a fitness tool.

"It's good for exercise too," Kaufman told ABC News. "Twenty minutes a day of wagging your tail is good for the core."

The tail comes in various colors and has two models. The higher-end In-Tail Digital will retail for $499 includes Bluetooth connectivity that pairs with an iOS app, letting the person wearing the tail control its movements. The tail can even emulate a variety of creatures, from dinosaurs to dogs.

The slightly more affordable In-Tail Analog costs $199.99, allowing the person wearing it to wag to their heart's content without using any electronic parts. The tail can move realistically thanks to 3-D printed vertebrae under the fur.
