TechBytes: Google to Create Music Download Store

Music downloads might soon be available to Google+ members.

Oct. 24, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, it looks like Google is getting musical.

Today's Wall Street Journal reported that Google is building a music-downloading store.

Tentatively called Google Music, the service would reportedly work closely with the Google+ social network.

It would reportedly let users hear songs for free, then download them for a price.

Tech Stocks Predicted to Rise

Next year is slated to be a good one for several technology companies.

Barron's predicts that shares of Apple, Oracle, eBay and Hewlett-Parkard will rise by roughly 20 percent in the next year.

And the magazine says the No. 1 company to watch is Fusion-io, a data storage company.

Statue of Liberty Webcam

The Statue of Liberty is celebrating her 125th birthday by getting with the times.

Webcams are being added to her torch, to let viewers see New York harbor, as well as visitors on the ground, all in real-time.

The cameras are due to be switched on Friday, commemorating the statue's dedication in 1886.
