TechBytes: Sprint to Offer iPhone 5

The wireless provider will carry Apple's upcoming smartphone.

August 24, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, the spread of the iPhone. Sprint Nextel reportedly will begin selling the Apple smartphone in mid-October.

The Wall Street Journal calls it a big win for Sprint, which has been at a competitive disadvantage without the device.

Those Sprint customers and those at other carriers could be getting the iPhone 5, which reports say will be out at the end of September.

Facebook Updates Privacy Settings

Responding to user complaints, Facebook is making it easier to guard your privacy and control who sees what.

The privacy settings are moving right next to the posts, tags and photos that they affect. Facebook says it worked for months with several privacy groups.

The changes go into effect tomorrow.

Dish Network Going WirelessSatellite television service Dish Network wants to build a wireless broadband network that would allow it to better compete with cable and phone companies that can bundle TV service with telephone and internet.

Dish has asked the FCC for the official go-ahead.
