Busiest Airports for July 4 Travel

July 1, 2014— -- July 4 vacations are already in swing, and with the busiest travel day of the summer coming up, travelers should expect crowded airports. If they're headed to one of the nation's busiest airports, get ready for long security and Starbucks lines.

Travel website Hopper said the volume of travelers headed to the nation's airports this Independence Day will be 60 percent higher than Memorial Day. The busiest airport? Las Vegas McCarren Airport, with almost 13 million searches total for arrivals and departures.

The analysis of the busiest airports was conducted on Hopper’s combined feed of Global Distribution Service (GDS) data sources for all searches conducted in the past three months, with a planned trip between June 27 and July 7. Top airports were identified by which had the most searches either originating or arriving at a particular airport.
