— -- The 2015 Epcot Flower & Garden festival kicks off March 4 and ABC News was invited to take a sneak peak backstage at the preparations.
There will be more than 100 topiary displays, many of Disney characters. New this year: Anna and Elsa. Far from "frozen," they'll be in full bloom at World Showcase Plaza. Also, Chip 'n Dale, on display at the main entrance.
Besides greenery, the festival also focuses on food, with outdoor kitchens featuring spring-inspired dishes. There will also be professionals on hand to deliver tips on how to get the most out of your garden at home.
Preparations for the annual festival are always ongoing. "before one festival is over, we start getting ready for the next year," said Eric Darden, Horticultural Manager for the Epcot International Flower and Garden at Walt Disney World.
Besides the extensive irrigation system running through each topiary to keep it fresh for the duration of the festival, there's one other crucial element: French hairpins. "We're one of the world's largest users," said Darden. "The vines won't stay down on their own."
The festival runs through May 17.
