— -- Haven't had enough politics after two weeks of conventions? Check out famed photographer Richard Avedon's take on movers and shakers at a retrospective opening a week from Saturday at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Richard Avedon: Portraits of Power includes portraits of civic influencers and political notables, from Malcolm X, to late Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham, to former Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld. A photo of presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, taken at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, is included; Avedon who died in 2004 never shot Obama's Republican counterpart, Sen. John McCain, says exhibit curator Paul Roth.

Admission is $14 and the show runs through Jan. 25, 2009. Information: corcoran.org.
