— -- A gas station store manager in Ohio recently tried to subdue an alleged robber by knocking him to ground before repeatedly smacking him with a fire extinguisher, according to dramatic surveillance video obtained by ABC News today.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when the alleged robber entered a Sunoco gas station store in Toledo, Ohio, and asked the clerk at the register to check an ATM slip, according to a police report filed with the Toledo Police Department.

When the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached over to try and grab the cashier tray, but the clerk pulled away, reads the police report obtained by ABC News today.

The suspect then "jumped the counter and began pushing and shoving" the clerk, who was "visibly pregnant," the police report states.

At this point, a female store manager and another male employee tried to grab the suspect and held him to the ground to protect the pregnant clerk, the store's owner, Akash Singh, told ABC News today.

Police added that the male employee said the suspect bit him at one point.

Once they were able to get the suspect down on the floor, the store manager grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and began striking him on the back, the police report states.

However, the suspect was able to get away and ran out of the store with about $500 in cash from the register, police said.

Toledo police uploaded footage from the store's surveillance camera on Facebook today, asking for the public's help in identifying the alleged robber.
