Julianne and Derek Hough Going on New Tour
The superstar siblings made a big announcement on "Good Morning America."
— -- “Dancing With the Stars” champions Derek and Julianne Hough will be adding one more major to-do item to their list this summer, the return of their hit “Move Live on Tour.”
The siblings made the announcement this morning on ABC News' “Good Morning America.”
“The big announcement is that Derek and I are going back on the road this summer,” said Julianne, 26.
The siblings say the new "Move" tour -- kicking off June 12 in Phoenix -- will be similar to their first summer concert tour that took them to 40 cities last year, but just bigger and better.
“Last year we said it was a rock concert for dance and this year it’s going to just be a bigger rock concert for dance,” Julianne said. “Our whole goal behind it is that the way that you move directly affects the way that you feel, so we get out in the audience. “
“We bring people up on stage. We’re singing. We’re dancing. We’re doing funny skits and competition and that whole thing,” she said.
The Houghs, who have a combined seven mirror ball “Dancing” trophies between them, will again be partnering with the choreography duo known as “Nappytabs,” they said.
The new tour comes as both siblings are in the middle of busy and high-profile career moves.
Derek, 29, is preparing to compete again on “Dancing With the Stars.” He has been paired with Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin for the show’s 20th season, premiering March 16.
The dancing pro will fly back and forth between Los Angeles and New York City for this season’s competition because he is also taking on a new role, starring in the Radio City Rockettes’ new Spring Spectacular show.
“It’s a massive production,” Derek said of the show, adding that the “Move Live” tour will come to Radio City in July and he will “be very familiar with that stage by then.”
“It’s huge. It’s amazing,” he said of the famed music hall.
Julianne is also taking on a new role in her career, signing on to star as Sandy in the upcoming live adaptation of the musical “Grease,” to air on FOX next year.
“That is a huge dream come true and also very nerve-wracking,” she said. “I’m excited.”
Tickets for the “Move Live on Tour” go on sale this Friday, March 6. The tour’s last stop will be Aug. 8 in Las Vegas.
“It’s going to be a blast,” Derek said. “It’s going to be a great tour.”
