North Carolina Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Two Injured
A man shot four people and himself at a lumber yard in North Carolina.
Jan. 13, 2012— -- Three people have died and another is injured after a disgruntled employee shot up a lumber company in North Carolina before turning the gun on himself, police said today.
Ronald Dean Davis, 50, of Ether, is accused of using a shotgun to shoot four people at McBride Lumber Co. in Star, N.C., around 6:30 a.m. today before later shooting himself at home. Police found Davis in critical condition at his home after the shooting, and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Three of the victims, meanwhile, have died, and the fourth victim was airlifted to a hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.
The shooter was a disgruntled former employee who left a six-page note about the shootings. Police found the note in his home, they said.
The company's founder, Dorothy McBride, told the Associated Press she was shocked.
"Oh, my God, I can't believe it," said McBride, who was not at the business at the time of the shootings. "I just can't talk about it right now. I have to find out more."
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department said they would hold a 2 p.m. press conference to discuss the details of the shooting.
