Police near San Francisco are looking for a "brazen" burglar wearing a Santa hat who broke into an optometry store early Christmas Day. The Hillsborough Police Department says the suspect may have stolen the keys from a residential burglary late Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning.

Hillsborough Police Department Captain Doug Davis said a pair of pricey sunglasses may have been stolen from the home and police were meeting with the business owner again today to see if anything was stolen from City Optometry. It appeared the burglar also stole a set of keys he later used to enter the store.

"It’s just unusual. It’s pretty clear that someone was home at the time of this crime," Davis told ABC News. "It's just very brazen. Anytime someone conducts a crime inside the home and knows the home is occupied, it’s another level, which is why we have this response. We had everyone out on Christmas night trying to work on this case."

The business owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
