— -- It appears that people aren't the only ones excited about Pope Francis' visit to the United States: Pets are, too!

Dogs and cats dressed in papal attire are taking over the hashtags #PopeDog and #PopeCat on Instagram and other social media.

The holy hounds and Catholic cats are from all over the United States, including Florida, Nevada and New York, according to their social media pages. But it appears there are more #PopeDogs than #PopeCats.

"Everyone loves cute puppies, and everyone loves Pope Francis," Brooklyn dog-owner John Scorr told the BBC. Scorr reportedly dressed his 3-year-old puggle, Giles, in full papal regalia, minus the staff.
