U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq -- 2006

Staff Sgt. Emmanuel L. Legaspi, 38, of Las Vegas, Nev., died of injuries sustained in Tal Afar, Iraq when his unit came under enemy fire during combat operations.

May 6, 2006

Staff Sgt. Dale J. Kelly Jr., 48, of Richmond, Maine.; and Staff Sgt. David M. Veverka, 25, of Jamestown, Pa., died in Ad Diwaniyah, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near their cargo truck during combat operations.

Sgt. Matthew J. Fenton, 24, of Little Ferry, N.J., died at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., from wounds received while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Leon B. Deraps, 19, of Jamestown, Mo., died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Cpl. Cory L. Palmer, 19, of Seaford, Del., died at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio from wounds received while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Pvt. Alva L. Gaylord, 25, of Carrollton, Mo., died of injuries sustained in Qasr Ar Riyy, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his RG-31 Mine Protected Vehicle.

1st Sgt. Carlos N. Saenz 46, of Las Vegas; Spc. Teodoro Torres, 29, of Las Vegas; and Sgt. Nathan J. Vacho, 29, of Janesville, Wis.; died in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV.

Cpl. Stephen R. Bixler, 20, of Suffield, Conn., died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Gavin B. Reinke, 32, of Pueblo, Colo., and Spc. Bryan L. Quinton, 24, of Sand Springs, Okla., died when an improvised explosive device detonated near their RG-31 Mine Protected Vehicle.

Sgt. Elisha R. Parker, 21, of Taberg, N.Y., died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Pfc. Benjamin T. Zieske, 20, of Concord, Calif., died of injuries sustained in Kirkuk, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated.

Sgt. Joseph E. Proctor, 38, of Indianapolis, died in Tammin, Iraq, when a suicide, vehicle-borne, improvised explosive device detonated near his observation post.

Capt. Brian S. Letendre, 27, of Woodbridge, Va., died conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Pfc. Christopher M. Eckhardt, 19, of Phoenix, died in Taji, Iraq, from a non-combat related cause.

Cpl. Robbie G. Light, 21, of Kingsport, Tenn., died of injuries sustained in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M1A2 Abrams tank.

Lance Cpl. Robert L. Moscillo, 21, of Salem, N.H., died while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Sgt. Edward G. Davis III, 31, of Antioch, Ill., died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
