Blues Guitarist's Daughter Found Dead

C O N C O R D, Calif., Aug. 10 -- Authorities in northern California saythree bodies found in duffle bags in a Sacramento County River arethose of a missing elderly couple and the 22-year-old daughter ofblues guitarist Elvin Bishop.

The womans boyfriend is a suspect in their deaths, a prosecutorsaid Wednesday.

Grisly Find

The dismembered bodies of Selina Bishop and Ivan Stineman, 85,and his wife, Annette, 78, were found in the Mokelumne River onMonday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Eight bags were found, each containing human remains. One bagcontained a human head, another a torso.

All three victims suffered blunt trauma before they weredismembered, said Harold Jewett, a Contra Costa County deputydistrict attorney. When asked about a possible motive, heresponded, Money, but didnt elaborate.

Stineman and his wife were reported missing Aug. 3, the same daySelina Bishops mother, Jennifer Villarin, 45, and Joseph Gamble,54, were found shot to death in Bishops apartment.

Police arrested Bishops boyfriend, Glenn Helzer, 30, at hishome Monday for investigation of robbery, burglary and othercharges unrelated to the murders. Helzers brother Justin, 28, andfriend Dawn Godman, 26, also were arrested and charged with drugpossession, Jewett said.

Palm Prints Found

Jewett said Wednesday that palm prints of two of the threedefendants were found inside the Stinemans van. Glenn Helzer was astockbroker who had once worked for the Stinemans, he said.

Justin Helzer and Godman also were charged with unlawfullydriving or taking the Stinemans van. All three were being heldwithout bail.

Bishop, 22, had not been heard from since the day before hermother was killed. She was last seen with Glenn Helzer at arestaurant in Berkeley.

Elvin Bishop, best known for his 1976 pop hit Fooled Aroundand Fell in Love, declined to comment, said Mike Grill, who worksfor Alligator Records in Chicago.
