Your Thanksgiving Weather Forecast
It could hit 60 degrees in New York City on Thanksgiving.
— -- Most of the east will be dry and tranquil on Wednesday for the busiest travel day of the holiday season.
The trouble spots will be from California to the Rockies where in the mountain passes slick roads are expected from heavy snowfall. Rainy weather is possible along the California coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles. In the plains, just a few showers are in the forecast from Oklahoma City to Chicago, so roads could be wet from time to time.
Air travel delays could become an issue across the west coast due to the storm, but much of the east should be delay-free, at least when it comes to the weather.
On Thanksgiving day, storms and heavy rain are expected from Texas to the Great Lakes; some flooding on the roads is possible. In the west, snow will fall in the Rockies and in Denver, several inches could accumulate and roads will be snow-packed and icy. Wintry mix of sleet, snow and rain is expected in the Upper Midwest from Des Moines to Minneapolis.
The best weather in the country will be along the east coast and in the Northeast, where it's not only going to be dry but also very mild for this time of the year. Places like New York City could be close to 60 degrees, making it the warmest Thanksgiving in eight years. Chicago will see temperatures in the mid 50s for Thanksgiving, putting the city in the top 10 warmest Thanksgivings on record.
