Mother's Day: A Celebration

When we talked to Scott and Jackie, their closeness filled the room.

"I think that appreciating your parents, like so many things, comes with age," says Scott. "Because as you get older you have a far deeper understanding of number one, what love is and the sacrifices and the decisions and the constant work love inspires and requires. So I don't know if you can ever really say that you fully understand…what my mother has done. I suppose that's part of why there's this element of never feeling that enough is enough, you always need more. You need to do more to sort of justify sort of having the love of someone else like that."

"My mother is also my best friend and that's a choice...It's something that...it's something that I can't imagine not having."

Four very personal stories, each different, each one like our own.

For all the flickering images, all the indelible pictures, for all the moms, Happy Mother's Day.

A very special thanks to StoryCorps and their book "Mom: A Collection of Family Conversations." This week, they launched an iPhone app that you can use to interview your own mom.
