Charles Gibson to Interview President Bush

Sept. 5, 2006 — -- Days before the fifth anniversary of 9/11, "World News" anchor Charles Gibson will spend Thursday, Sept. 7, with President Bush and will be given rare, behind-the-scenes access to the president and his key advisers.

Gibson will accompany Bush on Air Force One as the president travels to Atlanta, where he is scheduled to deliver a national security speech on the war on terror.

Throughout the course of the day, Gibson will interview the president on a wide range of topics, including: the approaching 9/11 anniversary, the country's preparedness to counter another possible terrorist attack here, and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Portions of the interview will air on "World News with Charles Gibson" on Thursday, Sept. 7, and Gibson will anchor that evening's broadcast from Atlanta.

The interview will also be featured on the "World News" webcast, ABCNEWS.com and ABC News Radio on that day, and on "Good Morning America" on Friday, Sept. 8.

Additional excerpts will air on the fifth anniversary of 9/11 on "World News" and on a special edition of "Primetime," "9/11/06: Where Things Stand," anchored by Charles Gibson.
