story, the wildfire that is still burning near yosemite national park on this holiday weekend. Firefighters are stretched. The u.S. Forest service says there's been more than 34,000 fires this year, nearly 3.8 million acres torched. As of tonight, the fire crews, though, have reinforcements, drones up in the air. Clayton sandell reports from colorado springs. Reporter: The western firefight tonight looks a lot like a military campaign. At yosemite national park's massive rim fire -- right there. Reporter: New help from remote controlled drones on loan from the californi air national guard. Armed with sensors that see through heavy smoke to tell commanders not only how big a fire is, but how intensely it's burning. I saw more in 30 minutes than in three and a half days hiking the fire line. Nearly four million acres have burned up and neighborhoods like these look like war zones. Tonight five military tankers are dive-bombing targets across the west. Ready? Ready? Drop. Reporter: They're slowly helping contain yosemite's fire.
