'Extreme Cougar Wives' Digs Into the Dating World of Older Women, Young Men
'Extreme Cougar Wives' follows older women as they date younger men.
Nov. 21, 2012— -- "I'm confident, I'm sexy, I'm loving and I've never had a headache."
That's Hattie. She's is a 76-year-old woman who loves younger men. She said the youngest man she had ever slept with was 18.
"I always have sex on the first date," she said.
And then there is Stephanie, a 65-year-old woman who is dating 28-year-old Octavio, and 54-year-old Jude and 21-year-old Kevin, who decided to have a commitment ceremony.
"The sex," said Jude, as Kevin added. "I will never forget the first time, was absolutely amazing."
These brave women agreed to lay out their unusual love lives in a daring TLC show, "Extreme Cougar Wives," a reality special showcasing cougar-cub relationships. In the Nov. 25 special, which airs at 10 p.m. ET on TLC, viewers will meet Hattie, Jude and her lover, Kevin, and Stephanie with her boyfriend Octavio.
"For me, this is who I am," Octavio said. "I like older women, and I can't do anything about it."
But cougar-cub relationships are increasingly common. There are cougar conventions, cougar dating sites -- it's a growing niche. Did Ashton and Demi start the trend? Listen, the fantasy goes back to Mrs. Robinson, and who can forget Stifler's mom in "American Pie."
Stephanie said she was married to a man her own age for years until he died, sadly. She met Octavio in the restaurant where he worked.
"I actually said, 'I'll walk you to your car,' and she said, 'Well, you'll have to walk me home because my car is at home,' and I was like, 'All right, I'll walk you home, even better,'" Octavio said.
"That was a year ago," Stephanie said. "And we've been together ever since."
Octavio said his parents adore Stephanie, even though his mother is a few years younger than her. But what's in it for him and the young cubs?
"I like a few wrinkles around the eyes. It's a beautiful thing," Octavio said. "They carry themselves with this confidence, and I find that extremely sexually appealing, because they don't care if you like them or not."
The cougars on the show are not sugar mammas, and Kevin swears he's not doing this to get on TV and promote his music career.
"If this was a sham, it would be a lot more work than a sham is worth," Jude said.
Jude was married, and she has a daughter, who actually dated Kevin when they were in middle school. For the first year of their relationship, Jude had to sneak in and out of Kevin's bedroom, because he still lived with his parents. When they decided to get married, they wanted a commitment ceremony, and only then did they tell Kevin's parents -- you'll have to watch the show to find out how they take it.
As for Hattie, she says she never meets the parents of the guys she dates but has thought about getting married.
"Ah honey, I'd love to," she said.
