King took home the award for best supporting actress for her performance in "If Beale Street Could Talk."

"I'm an example of what it looks like when support and love is poured into someone," she said as she accepted her first Oscar.

"Mom, thank you for teaching me about people and their stories. You are the original superhero. Thank you."

Carter is the first African-American woman to win the award for best costume design. Her Oscar win was thanks to her work on "Black Panther."

Bardem presented the award for best foreign film in Spanish.

"There are no borders or walls that can restrain ingenuity and talent. In every region, in every country, in every continent in the world, there are always stories that move us. And tonight, we celebrate the excellence and the importance of the cultures and languages of different countries," he said.

Ali took home his second Oscar. He won best supporting actor for his role in "Green Book."

"I want to dedicate this to my grandmother who has been in my ear my entire life, telling me that if at first I don’t succeed try, try again."

Shi is an animator at Pixar who won for her short "Bao," a film about a dumpling that comes to life.

"To all of the nerdy girls out there, who hide behind their sketchbooks, don't be afraid to tell your stories to the world."

For a mini documentary about menstruation, Rayka Zehtabchi's acceptance speech was on point.

"I’m not crying because I’m on my period or anything. I can't believe a film about menstruation just won an Oscar."

Spike Lee snagged his first competitive Oscar for best original screenplay for "BlacKkKlansman." His acceptance speech paid homage to another one his classic films.

"Let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing!"

Gaga stole the show last night. From her "Shallow" performance with Bradley Cooper to her win for best original song, we loved seeing her shine.

"It's not about winning but what it's about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. If there's a discipline for passion, and it's not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you're beaten up. It's about how many times you stand up and are brave, and you keep on going."

The Queen, or rather, king of the night was Rami Malek. He was awarded best actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody."

Colman was just as surprised as anyone that she reigned over the Academy as best actress for her role as Queen Ann in "The Favourite."
