Suite of the week: Family fun at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum
There are 204 suites for larger families.
The combination of quarantining, home schooling, cold weather and cabin fever has many Americans dreaming of warm-weather vacations. Mexico's Riviera Maya, which is one of the most searched destinations for 2021 vacations, according to Expedia, is home to Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, a family favorite that's recently finished a complete transformation.
The all-inclusive resort features an expansive kids area, Zama, where children can learn about the Mayan culture through play, archaeology and exploration. There's a playground, a jungle park with ziplines, tunnels, slides, a water park and splash area. For older kids, there's also a teen club.
There are three pools, seven dining venues and, of course, the beach.
The resort has 774 guest rooms, 204 of which are family suites, sleeping up to four adults and one child. Completely renovated in 2020, the suites consist of two connecting areas, each with their own bathroom and common living area. "The suite," as the rooms are known, is decorated in a neutral color palette and primarily located near the children's play area and pool.
Each suite features two double beds or one king-sized bed; a sofa bed with seating area, a balcony or terrace, minibar; hydromassage bathtub and shower and more.
Bahia Principe Grand Tulum is located within the Bahia Principe Riviera Maya Resort, 60 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, 30 minutes from Playa del Carmen and 20 minutes from Tulum’s Mayan ruins. Rates start at $90 per night.
