Jeff Daniels Jokes About Interviewing Donald Trump as Will McAvoy of 'Newsroom'
Jeff Daniels to star in the Broadway show "Blackbird."
— -- Funny man Jeff Daniels is returning to Broadway in the drama "Blackbird."
The Emmy-winning actor stopped by “Good Morning America” today to discuss his new role, and even made a few cracks about the 2016 presidential campaign, joking that his "Newsroom" character, anchor Will McAvoy, would’ve loved to have interviewed the GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
“Let’s imagine, shall we?” Daniels told “GMA” co-anchor Robin Roberts. “McAvoy sitting down with Trump for a one-on-one, 60-minute interview and McAvoy’s going to stay on one question: fat pigs. 'Let’s stay on fat pigs, Donald. Let’s spend an hour on fat pigs.’”
Daniels stars in "Blackbird" alongside Michelle Williams, who confronts him 15 years after their inappropriate relationship ends.
“If you want to be a better actor, than you get better with each role and ‘Newsroom’ taught me so much," he said.
"... and now to do ‘Blackbird’ with Michelle Williams, it’s just continues the education," Daniels continued. "You can’t help but get better.”
"Blackbird" opens at the Belasco Theatre in New York City next Thursday.
