Jan. 24 -- Michelle Pfeiffer has partnered with some of the greatest leading men of all time, including Al Pacino, Harrison Ford, Bruce Willis and the devilish Jack Nicholson. But one of the most intriguing partnerships is the one she has off-screen with her husband, writer-producer David E. Kelley.

Many are curious what it is like for Pfeiffer to share her life and home with a man who writes more successful shows in one week Ally McBeal, The Practice than most people do in a lifetime.

"I've been in relationships with others in show business and, and it can be difficult," Pfeiffer said. With Kelley, she does not feel that the continual pull of work.

"People don't believe me when I say that actually we see him, and he's not writing all the time, and he doesn't usually work on the weekends," Pfeiffer said.

'We Just Get Along'

Without isolating themselves, they manage to deal with being a famous couple, while still maintaining a solid relationship.

"We don't really shut the world out," Pfeiffer said. "We just get along. I think we want the same things for our children, want the same things out of our relationship, and we have a similar work ethic, you know, that we both love our work and we love to be challenged."

Both of them are career-oriented.

"We take it seriously. We take a lot of pride in what we do," Pfeiffer said. "At the same time, our family is most important and it's just sort of trying to balance those two things."

Saturday Is Date Night

To keep the marriage going, they do what every couple tries to do. Each Saturday night, Pfeiffer and Kelley do a date night, which includes dinner and a movie.

"I'm always talking to people who, oh, gosh, we haven't had a date, they can't think when the last time was they went out with their spouse," Pfeiffer said. "I think because we became parents, two months into the relationship, and so it was really, really important in the beginning."

They realized that they couldn't let the stresses of being parents to newborn daughter Claudia Rose take over.
