Photos Show Severe Thunderstorms and Hail That Moved Across the Eastern US
Thunderstorms, hail and wind are wreaking havoc in parts of the country.
— -- Strong weather systems including severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts, large hail and possible tornadoes have been moving through parts of eastern and central US Monday, according to the National Weather Service, captured in dramatic pictures and videos by observers.
The severe weather was expected to continue through the evening, but strong thunderstorms and other severe weather have already begun to wreak havoc in parts of the Mid-West and East Coast.
According to the National Weather Service, there were 40 reports of hail and 145 wind reports. No tornado reports had been received.
Amtrak announced this evening that passengers traveling on the Northeast Corridor should be prepared for delays and possible cancellations through the evening. Various local train lines in the affected regions of the US have also announced service suspensions and/or delays.
In some areas, lightning strikes have started fires, wind gusts have uprooted trees and hail has damaged property.
Many social media users have captured stunning photos and videos of the lightning, such as a stunning series of strikes near Hoboken, rain and hail coming down.
