Oscar Pistorius has been released from South African prison on parole nearly 11 years after he shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius is now set to be released from a South African prison on Jan. 5 after the court confirmed he had served the time necessary which makes him eligible.

If granted, he would have been released from prison in the coming weeks.

Prison authorities are investigating the apparent brawl.

The convicted killer of his girlfriend will now serve over 13 years in jail.

South African Paralympian and convicted killer Oscar Pistorius was taken to a hospital for a checkup Thursday morning, officials said.

He hopes photos would show everyone "the pain she must have gone through."

Prosecutors will try for the maximum sentence.
