A federal judge in New York on Tuesday set a trial date for April 14 in the libel lawsuit Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor, brought against The New York Times.

The Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals faulted the trial judge for dismissing the case before the jury had reached a verdict.

This is the first time in nearly half a century that Alaska's House seat is vacant.

The former governor will run for the seat vacated by Don Young.

Palin claimed an erroneous editorial defamed her.
