In Their Own Words: Tech Moguls' Private Comments on Hiring, Poaching, Control of Talent

In an order denying summary judgment in the case, another court document shows Campbell trying to help bring Facebook into the fold. He asks in an email to Google, “Who should contact Sheryl [Sandberg] or Mark [Zuckerberg] to get a cease fire? We have to get a truce.”

Sandberg is Facebook’s chief operating officer; Zuckerberg is Facebook’s CEO and founder. Sandberg is also a member of Disney's board of directors, which owns ABC News and this website.

Sandberg decided not to play ball. In a May 2013 deposition she says she was contacted in or around August 2008 by two Google executives, one of whom "expressed concern about what he described as the perceived rate at which Facebook could hire employees from Google." She declined to limit any such recruitment or hiring, she says in the deposition.

Asked for comment by ABC News, Facebook and Google declined. Intuit and Apple, invited to comment, made no response.
