'21 Jump Street': Where Are They Now?

Looking back at the cast of the original "21 Jump Street."

March 16, 2012 — -- intro: For Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, "21 Jump Street," which hits theaters today, is a chance to do the buddy cop thing, have some fun and make a few bucks during a historically dry time of year for the movie industry.

For the cast of the original Fox TV series, (like Rico Suave, er, Richard Grieco) it was a chance to launch careers ... or drop off the acting landscape entirely, as many of members of the small screen squad did after the series went off the air in 1991.

Let's celebrate the folks who made it (for the most part). Click through to see "21 Jump Street's" biggest stars, then and now.

quicklist: 1title: Johnny Depptext: If for nothing other than this, "21 Jump Street" was a blessing. The world would not know Captain Jack Sparrow, or Ed Wood, or what it really means to be the Sexiest Man Alive were it not for the show, which launched Depp into stardom. The erstwhile Officer Tom Hanson makes a cameo in the new movie. We already know that pout has stood the test of time (still sultry at 48), but we'll take any opportunity to see it again. media:15930320

quicklist: 2title: Holly Robinson Peetetext: How far Holly's come since her afro-bling fabulous Sergeant Judy Hoffs. The 47-year-old actress has enjoyed a steady career, co-starring on the '90s sitcom "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper," co-hosting the original season of "The Talk," and fronting a handful of TV movies. She's also an advocate for autism awareness; her son Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism at age 3. media: 15930243

quicklist: 3title: Richard Griecotext: Grieco spent three years on "21 Jump Street" playing Detective Dennis Booker and another year starring in a spinoff, "Booker," which died after one season. He became a B-movie staple during the '90s and memorably played the idol of head bopping dweebs Doug and Steve Butabi in "A Night at the Roxbury." An ill-fated stint at singing followed. His last major role was as the demon god Loki in the Syfy TV movie "Almighty Thor." He's also the creator and executive producer of Showtime's "Gigolos." media: 15930451

quicklist: 4title: Dustin Nguyentext: The former Sergeant Harry Truman Ioki went from "21 Jump Street" to Pamela Anderson's "V.I.P.," playing a stuntman from 1998 to 2002. Along the way, he racked up a number of TV and movie roles that found him flexing his martial arts muscles. These days, Nguyen, 49, hosts the Vietnamese edition of "The Amazing Race" and raises awareness for paralysis organizations -- his wife became a quadriplegic after a September 2001 car accident that killed Thuy Trang, who was part of the original cast of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."media:15930405

quicklist: 5title: Peter DeLuisetext: The eldest son of comedian Dom DeLuise scored his most memorable role as "21 Jump Street's" Officer Doug Penhall. It became a family affair; for the show's fifth season, he brought on his younger brother Michael to play Penhall's little bro. DeLuise had small screen success after the show went off the air, starring in "SeaQuest DSV" and taking on roles behind and in front of the camera for "Stargate SG-1" and its spinoffs. The 45-year-old actor returned to the big screen to cameo in the "21 Jump Street" film with Depp, patrolling his old stomping ground in a new millenium. media: 15930291
