— -- Mihaly "Michu" Meszaros, the 33-inch-tall actor and former circus star who played the title role in the 1980s sitcom "ALF," has died, his manager told ABC News today.

The actor, who also appeared in "Big Top Pee Wee," played the fuzzy alien character in those rare scenes in which the character, usually a puppet, was seen walking about.

His manager, Dennis Varga, said Meszaros had a stroke on June 2, and was in a coma and suffering from pneumonia since.

He died 8:20 p.m. Sunday, said Varga, who lived with Meszaros at a home in Hawthorne, California.

He was 76.
