Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Will 'Avoid' Australia After Pup-Roar
Depp was accused of bringing dogs illegally into the country.
— -- Don't expect Amber Heard and Johnny Depp to return to Australia anytime soon.
"I have a feeling we're going to avoid the land Down Under from now on, just as much as we can, thanks to certain politicians there," the 29-year-old actress told Australia's "Sunrise" show Monday while promoting "Magic Mike XXL" with co-star, Andie MacDowell.
"I don't know, I guess everyone tries to go for their 15 minutes, including some government officials," she added.
The jab appeared aimed at Australia's Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce, who publicly scolded Depp and Heard for breaking the country's quarantine laws by allegedly failing to declare their Yorkshire Terriers, Boo and Pistol, at customs when they arrived by private jet.
At the time, Joyce demanded that the dogs leave the country or risk being euthanized. He told the Australian TV show "The Project" that Depp has to "abide by the laws of the nation," despite being the "‘Sexiest Man Alive’ and all that and Jack Sparrow."
Depp, who had been filming "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" in Queensland, immediately left the country with his new bride and their two dogs.
The 52-year-old actor could still face up to 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of $265,000 if the matter goes to court.
He has yet to comment on the ordeal, but Heard told "Sunrise" that the pups are doing OK.
"Pistol's just fine," Heard said. "She's with me today."
